WOT! No Cards???

Why havnt I got a new project for you this week, well.... As you know we are getting the house ready to sell (when I say 'we' I actually mean 'me') and I have just finished painting my last wall. Herein lies the tale!

When we bought the house our main bedroom was painted a lovely chocolate colour on opposite walls (Think 'Close to Cocoa'!) and a creamy colour (Magnolia!) on the other two. Not a colour scheme I would have chosen personally but - hey ho! lets go with the flow! I bought bedding and accessories to match, adding a hint of duck egg blue here and there and 'worked it baby'! Well after 2 1/2 years its looking a bit tired so we decided to try and match the paint colour and touch it up.

The theory here is that despite painting the entire upstairs of the house in the dreaded Magnolia (a colour I detest after living with it for 13+ years in Military Housing) it would be easier to try and match the chocolate and get away with maybe one coat rather than at least 3 coats of the (One Coat!!) Magnolia. In the shop it looked fine... I opened the can and got really excited as I dipped my brush and applied the first lick to the wall. YEAH!!! I actually did a happy dance. It was such a good match you couldnt see where the new paint was.

Then it dried.

Then it was an entirely different shade (darker) and because I couldnt see where it was going when painting I ended up doing 2 coats anyway!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

Now Im not sure if its paint fumes or just the normal hysteria but looking at this paint for the last 2 days I was sorely tempted to dip my finger in and give a good lick!... Doesnt it look like melted Cadbury's?

Anyway, Im officially done now, (other than scrubbing doorways, and fingerprints, and little doggie footprints of course) and hope to get some crafting done this weekend. When I get the feeling back in my shoulders... Is there such a condition as Paint Roller Shoulder?

Kristinas Colour Challenge #39... Flower Power!

Heres another Colour Inspiration Challenge from Kristina Werner. And BOY! Was this a challenge for me! As you can probably tell I dont use alot of the Bold Brights colour family in my cards. Im not that kinda girl! So this was a real push for me!

The colours are Black, Real Red, Green Galore, So Saffron and Whisper White...

Well heres what I came up with...

Heres a couple of close-up photos...

Ive used the Truck Loads of Love set and the Neighbourhood Jumbo Wheel for the background. The Flower Power truck was done by stamping onto some DSPaper (Level 1 Hostess gift!) twice and cutting out. If you look at the close up photo you can see that I have taken the top layer (just the wheel arches) and 'popped' them up with some dimensionals to give a 3d look. Kinda cool huh? It doesnt show in the photo but I have used some 3d gloss (Glossy accents or similar) on the hub caps too for extra dimension. The road and highlights on the tyres are just added with a Signo white gel pen.

Although a struggle for me I really enjoyed creating this card. And I want a truck just like this one too!

Please tell me what you think...

Busy Busy Busy!

Sorry Ive not posted in a few days, been stuck up a ladder painting! On the final stretch now, off to get the house on the market (hopefully) on Monday.

Anyway, Mum is coming for an overnight stay this afternoon and it just so happens that I have a large box due from SU! (Coincidence...? I think not!) Im hoping that after helping me have a BIG crafty clear out we can get down to some serious making. I have a couple of projects brewing in my dirty little mind! Who knows if I find anything good in my clear out there might be some giveaways....!

Y'all Come back now, y'hear?

Another Challenge Card!

Well, I liked the last colour challenge from Kristina so much I did it again! Same colours, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. This time I used the From the Garden stamp. Its another Level 1 Hostess gift (ask me how to get this for free!) and I stamped it with VersaMark ink then Embossed with SU white embossing powder. I lightly coloured the main flower with SU markers and Blender Pens. You cant really see in this photo but I added a dash of glitter in the centre of the flower too.

The greeting is from the Cheer & Wishes set and is raised on Dimensionals.

Hope you like this one. I wanted to show how completely different cards can look even when you use the same colours.

If you knew how hard it is to take decent photos of my projects in this dark damp dreary weather... My neighbours must think Im nuts.

Imagine if you will... Curtains pulled back. Sheet of cardstock on the windowsill. Cards placed at just the right angle. Me standing on chair in said window, hanging almost upside down to catch what little light there is at just the right angle to reflect on the card. Bear in mind this is the FRONT window... I live on a MAIN road... I had to stop and wave at 3 people while doing all this...

I expect the men in white coats to be pounding my door down any second now!

Enjoy!

Colour Challenge #38

Well as most of you know by now... Im a little Challenged! Kidding...

Kristina Werner has a fabulous blog... you should go visit it Here. She is a Graphic Designer at SU in the USA and an avid card-maker and scrapbooker. Her blog is on my daily blog-surfing list cuz she has two video demonstrations and a Colour Challenge every week. She is one busy lady! I love her style as it is similar to mine. Clean lines and simple layouts. (Not that I am comparing myself to her in any which way!) When I grow up I want to be Kristina!

Here is this weeks Colour Inspiration Challenge...

Pretty huh? Well heres my attempt:

The stamps I used are the Crazy for Cupcakes set and the Best Yet (Level 1 Hostess free gifty!) set. The papers are from the Sweet Always Designer Series Papers. Not my usual colours but Im lurvin this card. Great for a summer birthday. It's brightened up another dull, foggy day in Manure-ville! (Newmarket).

Have a go yourself and see how you get along...

I will be back in a day or so with my Top Ten favourite cards from my year with Stampin* Up! and my Top 10 Blogs to visit.

Random thought for the day...
Im sitting here smelling my gorgeous Minty Lamb Burgers sizzling away under the grill thinking I will miss them when we move to the USA. Newmarket has a couple of Fantabulous award winning Butchers Shops.. Olde Worlde style, Even bought some rabbit the other day! Suddenly occurred to me that you wouldnt normally associate Newmarket with Butcher Shops... Think Newmarket, think Racing, think horses.

Hmmmm Newmarket, Horses, Butcher Shops.
Suddenly these burgers are not so appettising!

Salad anyone?

Last Fling?!?

Ok, so I have had several people in the last week ask if I am doing another workshop/craft day like the one I did at Christmas...

Im giving it some serious thought. I would like to do a theme... Not sure what yet though... So COME ON PEOPLE I NEED YOUR HELP! Please leave a comment and tell me if you would be interested and above all give me some ideas... Ive been doing nothing but painting and DIY since Christmas so my brain is a bit slow at the moment (must be all the paint fumes huh! ;-) )

IF I do one last craft event it will be small and at my house so I dont have to pay for a hall etc...

Couple of theme ideas are:
Valentines Cards
Thank you cards
Scrapbooking
Year of greetings cards
Techniques class
Chocolate! (of course)

Soooooo, give me your thoughts and tell me what YOU would like to make. I will see what brews in my mind over the next little while and let you all know...
