Colour!

Remember my resolution to use more colour....? Well heres another of those cards. I was aiming for a male card but im not sure I pulled it off.


The colours are very male but what do you think of the finished card? I stamped the main image onto the card blank then again onto another piece of white, then I cut the centre of the medallion out. Next I covered the whole centre with VersaMark ink and sprinkled with clear embossing powder which I then heat set... I love the medallion stamp its nice and big and fills a card on its own...

I need your opinions on this one people! Is it still too feminine? Would it work for a man? Why do we cardmakers have such a hard time making 'men' cards?

Recipe: All SU!
Whisper white, tempting turquoise, basic black cardstock.
Tempting turquoise ink.
Medallion background stamp.
Versamark & SU! Clear Embossing powder.
Stampin Dimensionals, square scallop punch, paper piercer, rhinestone brad.

Just for Fun!

A PINK card today as its October, Cancer Awareness month... Have you had your annual (yukky) checkup? Make that appointment and do a self-exam in the shower tonight, it only takes a minute and could save your life... End of lecture.


So heres a little pink and girlie card I created last week. I must admit that this card was the inspiration for the Colour Challenge card in the last post...


I started with the main image... I wanted to emboss it for the raised effect and remembered some hot pink embossing powder that I had in my stash for - literally - YEARS! Well it started off hot pink and then when I heated it... it wasnt hot pink anymore but sugary pink!

The original plan I sketched out had just a panel on one side that was a patchwork effect of 6 squares... Well I wanted a bit more texture so started to collage the panels. I thought they looked like fabric swatches and kept on layering...

I could have carried on with the dressmaking theme but thought this was enough detail...


Im still not 100% happy... I think it needs a shadow under the dress 'form' but Im scared...!

Recipe.
Card: SU! Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, Whisper White.
Ink: Cameo Coral Marker.
Stamps: Stampabilities 'Wire dress form'. SU! 'Sanded' background stamp.
Paper: Sweet Always, Paper from Shes too cool scrappin kit (Ret) & Celery DSP.
Pin, buttons and embossing powder from stash.

Yay! Worked it out...

Ok, so after phoning the old man and interrogating him I realised that the old PC has a SD card slot on the front... DUH! So I managed to upload some photos anyway... The mothers day stuff (obviously) I cant show you till after the weekend, but I will share these with you.

This was a set I made for my sons Best Friends Birthday... Very simple and effective, she is only 12 but likes blue and silver so this is what I came up with... (please excuse the very bad lighting but was taken late at night...)

A very simple card made from Bashful blue cardstock, I stamped an image (onto Whisper White) from the Pocket Silhouettes set in Bordering Blue, then stamped another flower from the same set over the top with the VersaMark ink pad. I heat embossed this with silver embossing powder. Blue SU ribbon tied over the edge with the silver elastic cord and the message was punched with the fab new oval scallop and small oval punches (available from April 1st). I ran the edge of the small oval through the VersaMark pad and heat embossed in silver as before.

Next I stamped some home-made wrapping paper in the same blue using the Baroque Motifs set (still my fave!) and used my tag punches for the label.


What do you think? Suitably girlie still but not too baby-ish I hope...
